For 10 idyllic years, young Mija (An Seo Hyun) has been caretaker and constant companion to Okja.
That all changes when the Mirando Corporation takes Okja and transports her to New York, where image obsessed and self-promoting CEO Lucy Mirando (Tilda Swinton) has big plans for Mija’s dearest friend.

And please don’t hesitate to reach out to me @LucyMirando
A memo from the desk of The Mirando Corporation’s new CEO is one of those carefully scripted not-quite-advertisements that introduce a company’s culture in a blue skies way.
This unique video introduces an aspect of Boon Joon Ho’s (Snowpiercer) new film Okja – premiering on Netflix on June 28th.
Snowpiercer director Bong Joon Ho’s next film is Netflix’s Okja, in which a young woman, Mija, has cared for the titular creature – a massive animal and an even bigger friend.
When the family-owned multinational conglomerate Mirando Corporation takes Okja for themselves and transports her to New York, Mija sets out on a rescue mission.
Netflix has released three new photos from the production – including one each of Jake Gyllenhaal’s zoologist, Dr. Johnny Wilcox and Tilda Swinton’s enthusiastic Mirando Corporation CEO Lucy Mirando.
Bong Joon Ho – director of The Host and Snowpiercer – has a new film, Okja, that tells the story of a girl named Mija and her best friend – an enormous animal called Okja – as they try to keep Okja safe from a powerful multi-national company.
The first teaser as a bit of an Island of Doctor Moreau feel to it and is genuinely creepy.
Okja stars Tilda Swinton (Hail, Caesar!), Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler), Paul Dano (Love & Mercy), Lily Collins (Rules Don’t Apply), Steven Yeun (“The Walking Dead”), and Giancarlo Esposito (“Breaking Bad”) – and will premiere in 2017.
