Ender’s Game Is a Spectacular Near Miss!

Ender’s Game looks great, has some very good performances and absolutely spectacular CG visuals. As a blockbuster, it has heart, emotion and action. What it doesn’t have is any anything more than a cursory examination of the themes that made the novel so powerful.

Ender’s Game is a film about ethics on a grand scale, in a spectacular environment. Summit Entertainment has a released a behind-the-scenes video that gives us a glimpse into the building of the universe in which the story is set. It’s pretty mind-boggling.

Ender’s Game: Battle School Recruitment Video Asks ‘Do You Have What It Takes?

In advance of its Ender’s Game panel at comic-Con 2013, Summit Entertainment has released a Battle School recruitment video that features Harrison Ford’s Col. Hyrum Graff, as well as scenes of young soldiers in training and in action. It reminded me a bit of the propaganda videos from the original Starship Troopers – only minus the satirical irony.
