Does James Patterson still write all his novels? He churns out a new book every month. Alex Cross is a reboot of the old film franchise with Tyler Perry taking over the character from Morgan Freeman. While the movies never seemed to live up to the book version of the character, Freeman added a certain gravitas to the role.

GeekScholars Movie NewsWe’ve come to the middle of the summer blockbuster season, and as such GeekScholars Movie News is here to preview all of the hits coming out in July 2012!

From there it’s another huge week for preview reviews as we take a look a variety of trailers including Alex Cross, Robot & Frank, Here Comes the Boom, and The Silver Linings Playbook.

After that, GeekScholars Jill and Fox once again took to their local theaters and caught more than a glimpse of Channing Tatum in Magic Mike, so listen in to hear what they thought!

As always, this week’s show closes out with a few quickies, including: information on the future of the Bourne franchise, LEGO voice casting for Batman and Superman, and the possibility of an animated Popeye movie.
