“Tears of the Sun” is a romance / war movie which takes place in Africa, has mostly cardboard characters, and really get hokey at the end. For the most part, horrors of war are either off-screen or in the distance. Excellent photography and pyrotechnics. Strictly for Bruce Willis and/or war movie fans. GRADE = “C+”
