Consolidated Replies (reply function not working)
The “reply” function is not working. And what the hell is Judy Dench doing in a movie like this…. ————————- The “Dame” may have needed the money and am guessing they wanted to bring up the ‘tone’ of Riddick. ————————– Am guessing that “Terminal” will end up being on those films that you either […]
Cellular
Has anyone heard anything about the Kim Bassinger vehicle CELLULAR, slated for this fall ? The trailer(available at Apple’s website) really makes the film look intriguing… which, I suppose, any decent trailer should. At any rate, it appears that Bassinger is taken hostage in her home for whatever reasons. Naturally, the bad guys smash the […]

TV on DVD: Buffy, Season 6
I’ve watched some of Buffy on FX, though I’m not a die-hard fan, by any means. SMG is fantastic as Buffy, and James Marsden is terrific as Spike. The rest of the cast is also first rate. A great ensemble to be sure. The one thing I can’t help but notice is that everyone who […]
“Taking Lives”
“Taking Lives” is a thriller and a starring vehicle for Angelina Jolie. If you like jolts, this will be your cup of tea, but be ready for some very large plotholes/inconsistencies. (Olivier Martinez, as one of the Montreal cops, desperately needs a speech coach!) Extreme violence, gore, nudity. GRADE = “B-”
“‘Salem’s Lot”
I read a review in the Hollywood Reporter of the upcoming mini-series, “Salem’s Lot.” I was really afraid it was going to bite (in a bad way), but it got a good review. The actors got positive comments, including Rob Lowe as Ben Mears, Donald Sutherland as the “familiar,” Richard Straker, and one of my […]
“De-Lovely”
“De-Lovely” is a somewhat draggy (and smoky) musical recounting of the ‘marriage’ of Cole Porter. Kevin Kline and Ashley Judd turn in good performances. It’s good to hear many of the songs, but the performers leave a lot to be desired. There is a bizarre format that doesn’t work very well. GRADE = “B-”
Decisions, decisions
Quite a few stinkers opening this weekend, including Garfield, Riddick, and the marginally successful Stepford. I guess somebody’s got to be the best of the worst, eh ?
