An online role-playing game based on the Fairy Tale brand is in the works. The announcement was made today by anime/manga publisher FUNimation Entertainment, GameSamba and Kodansha.
The game would be a turn-based RPG with players taking on ‘the role of a wizard fighting alongside members of the Fairy Tail guild in an attempt to recover their past.’ Over time, and with experience, the players will be able to create their dream wizards.
The Fairy Tale game is expected to be ready for release in 2015. For further details, follow the jump.
FUNimation Entertainment and GameSamba announce FAIRY TAIL RPG with Kodansha
Flower Mound, TX – FUNimation Entertainment and GameSamba, Group 1200 Media companies, announced today that they intend to execute an agreement with Kodansha to develop a free-to-play online role-playing game based on the Fairy Tail brand. The browser-based game will have worldwide territory rights and is expected to be released in 2015. “This collaborative relationship will broaden the brand awareness of one of the hottest anime properties currently in the market,” said Gen Fukunaga, CEO of FUNimation Entertainment. “This will give fans a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the Kingdom of Fiore.”
The Fairy Tail game, being developed and published by GameSamba and its sister studio GameSamba HK, will be a turn-based role-playing game (RPG) where players will take on the role of a wizard fighting alongside members of the Fairy Tail guild in an attempt to recover their past. Players will be able to select from a variety of magic affinities, and unlock and customize spells as they play, creating their dream wizard in the world of Fairy Tail.
The game will allow players to befriend and fight alongside characters from Fairy Tail, create a guild, and more. Players will be able to complete quests from their own guild’s Request Board, and take on epic challenges by forming Wizard Teams with their friends.
