With the end of the writers’ strike all but signed, sealed and delivered, ABC is the first network out of the box in terms of announcing early pickups for the ‘08-‘09 with nine series getting the good news.
“The strength of our schedule this fall was unprecedented and speaks for itself,” said Stephen McPherson, president, ABC Entertainment, as the network announced that Brothers & Sisters, Dirty Sexy Money, Grey’s Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, Lost, Private Practice, Pushing Daisies, Samantha Who? and Ugly Betty would be on ABC’s fall schedule. “We’re looking forward to building on that success.”
The nine series were central to ABC’s domination in the Adults 19-49 demographic over the ’07 season, prior to the WGA strike. ABC claimed eight of the Top 20 highest-rated TV shows among young adults during the fall, including five of the Top 10 first-season series.
