Over the weekend Washington, D.C. played host to the annual Awesome Con fan event. This year one of the featured guests was none other than the Queens of Darkness Season 4b trio of villains Maleficent, Ursula and Cruella De Vil from ABC’s hit series Once Upon a Time. I had the distinct pleasure of chatting with two of the Queens, Victoria Smurfit (Cruella) and Merrin Dungey (Ursula) during a break in their very busy schedule about their wild ride guest starring this season.
Both women were gracious and funny with a quick wit and amazing personal chemistry. It was abundantly clear both actresses thoroughly enjoyed not only their time on the show getting to add their own flare to the notably iconic fairytale classics but also getting to play along side series regulars Robert Carlyle and Lana Parrilla.
Henry is hold up in the Sorcerers house with his book studying the magic door page trying to find any new clue that will help him discover a way to free the author. Unfortunately, Regina and the remaining Queens of Darkness are hot on his heels leading to a confrontation between Henry and Regina. Does Henry hold the key to freeing the author?
It comes to me as no surprise that Linda La Plante’s Trail & retribution is a quality series. After all, this is the woman who created Prime Suspect. This collection of six episodes of Trail & Retribution feature David Haymer as Detective Chief Superintendent Mike Walker, Victoria Smurfit as Detective Inspector Roisin Conner, and Dorian Lough as Detective Sergeant David Satchell [until 2006, it appeared as an annual two-part mystery. Now it usually airs five two part stories].
The six eps compose three mysteries: The Lovers, Sins of the Father and Closure. The Lovers concerns the disappearance of newlywed Mark Harrington after he goes to fetch coffee for himself and his bride, Susan [Miriam Heard]. Sins of the Father is about the investigation of the death of honors student Emily Harrogate [Carey Mulligan] – and how it reveals the problems of a “happy family.” Closure finds the team dealing with a serial killer – one of whose murders was investigated by a much younger DI Mike Walker.
