The coming of age movie is one of summer’s staples, think Adventureland as a classic example, a film where a kid suffering the awkwardness of adolescence has a life-changing experience over that one special summer. Most of them are fine examples of Sturgeon’s Law (90% of everything is crap). Then there’s The Way, Way Back. The Way, Way Back is one of the great ones.
How does a pair of Academy Award winning pair of screenwriters follow-up their crowning achievement? They both take on the world of television. Jim went on to play a Dean of a community college and Nat played a dreamer and an underachiever who moved in to help his sister. This summer, the dynamic duo wrote, act and making their directing debut in one of the best films of the summer, The Way, Way Back. Dean Rogers recently sat down with Nat & Jim to get the story on The Way, Way Back
Brought to you by two of the guys who wrote The Descendants and the studio that gave us Little Miss Sunshine and Juno. What more do you need to know?
The Way, Way Back premieres July 5th.
