SundanceTV’s quietly eerie and extraordinary supernatural series The Returned will premiere its much anticipated second season on October 31st (10/9C).
Based on the feature film Les Revenants by Robin Campillo, The Returned takes place in an idyllic French mountain town, where a seemingly random collection of people find themselves in a state of confusion as they attempt to return to their homes. What they don’t know yet is that they have been dead for several years, and no one is expecting them back.
Season two picks up six months after The Returned have disappeared into the mountains. Things are seemingly back to normal when a mysterious man – who seems to know a great deal more than he’s telling – arrives in town. For more, follow the jump.
Carlton Cuse’s American adaptation of hit French series The Returned has been picked up with a 10-episode order and a summer production start. The Returned is a unique take on the zombie genre and the North American debut of the original French series placed in the top five of Eclipse’s Favorite Fifteen + 5 earlier this year.
Cuse wrote the first episode of the new take on The Returned and will write and produce the series with Raelle Tucker (True Blood) for A&E. For more details, check out the press release following the jump.
Sundance Channel’s The Returned (Thursdays, 9/8C) is a French series (I know! Subtitles!) that is built around the return, years later, of the people who died in a bus crash to their town in the Alps. To say that weirdness ensues would be an understatement.
