The Mindy Project Renewed And Canceled!

The good news is that The Mindy Project – created by and starring Minday Kaling – has been given an order for a sixth season (to premiere in September, 2017.

The bad news is that it will be the show’s final season.

Freeform Acquires The Mindy Project In Syndication!

Freeform has acquired all five seasons of The Mindy Project in syndication. The series will make its network debut with a ‘late-night stack’ on Monday, October 3rd (midnight-2 ET) – with a prime time binge on November 2nd starting at 8/7C.

HULU Announces Fall Premiere Dates!

2015-16 Slate

Hulu has announced the premiere dates for its four ongoing series for Fall 2016: Season Three of the animated C-list superhero hit, The Awesomes returns on Tuesday, September 8th; Season Four of the relocated half-hour comedy, The Mindy Project premieres on Hulu on Wednesday, September 15th; half-hour comedy and Hulu Original Casual (about a bachelor and his divorced sister raising her teenage daughter) premieres on Wednesday, October 7th, and RocketJump: The Show (following the RocketJump team as they make new short films – which will then also premiere on Hulu) debuts on Wednesday, October 21st.

Each show will stream new episodes weekly.

Currently being readied for release are the mini-series based on Stephen King’s novel, 11/22/63 and The Way. Follow the jump for further details.

Behind the Story with the Paley Center Digs Into Creative TV Series!

SundanceTV has announced a new non-fiction series that will explore the creation and maintenance of some of today’s most creative TV series – like Recreation, Mad Men and Orange is the New Black.

Behind The Story with the Paley Center will use footage from The Paley Center for Media’s PaleyFest 2013 and PaleyFest 2014 television festivals to take viewers through the personal stories of these shows’ casts and creators.

FOX Winter Premieres From Backstrom and Glee To Weird Loners and The Following Announced!

FOX has set the dates for its winter premieres for new scripted shows Backstrom (January 22nd), The Last Man On Earth (March 1st) and Weird Loners (March 31st) – and unscripted World’s Funniest Fails (working title) (January 16th).

Returning scripted shows include Glee’s final 13-episode season (two-hour premiere on January 9th), The following (two-hour premiere on March 2n) and Bones (March 26th). Unscripted returnees include Masterchef Junior (January 6th) and Hell’s Kitchen (March 3rd).

James Franco Is At It Again – Signs For Two-Ep Arc On The Mindy Project!

THE MINDY PROJECT: Actor and filmmaker James Franco will guest-star in the season premiere of THE MINDY PROJECT airing Tuesday, Sept. 17 (9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT) and continue his two-episode arc in the season’s second episode, Tuesday, Sept. 24 (9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.   

The unpredictable James Franco writes books, spoofs himself in movies and turns up on soap operas. We never know what he’ll think of doing next until he does it. This time, he’s signed for a two-episode arc on The Mindy Project that will kick off the show’s new season on September 17th & 24th.

The Oscar®-nominated Franco will play Dr. Paul Leotard – the doctor who replaces Mindy Kaling’s titular character while she’s on a volunteer mission in Haiti. Leotard has a peculiar backstory that involves Fashion Week and a pregnant woman. For details, check out the press release after the jump.

Fox Pulls Ben & Kate, Adds Hell’s Kitchen–Fills Interim with Raising Hope!

Fox has pulled quirky, brother & sister comedy Ben amd Kate from its schedule effective immediately. Until Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen returns on March 12, Raising Hope (an equally quirky, but much less funny series) will pull double duty with new ‘one-hour’ episodes on January 29 and February 5 and 26th. New episodes of New Girl and The Mindy Project will continue in their regular timeslots.
