The success of Spartacus: Blood and Sand, and Spartacus: Gods of the Arena have given Starz its highest profile ever. Now, the network is returning to that mix of history and legend with its new series, Camelot [Fridays, 10-9C] – a stripped down take on the Arthurian legend.
On Tuesday, I had the opportunity to take part in a conference call with series creator Chris Chibnall and stars Joseph Fiennes and Tamsin Egerton who play, respectively, Merlin and Guinevere. Much of the discussion centered on the challenges of taking such a well known legend – and such archetypal characters – and making them fresh.
