Summer television continues to just get better and better: BBC America is adding to the increasing quantity of summer must-see-TV with the return of its first original scripted series, Copper (pictured), for a second season; the American premiere of Broadchurch – a mystery series starring Doctor Who’s David Tennant; a new, four-night Luther miniseries; the premiere of the final season of the original Being Human; and the truly unique zombie apocalypse drama, In the Flesh. New series Bang Goes the Theory and Dangerman: The Incredible Mr. Goodwin join perennial favorite, Top Gear’s twentieth (!) season on the unscripted side of things.

Continuing the trend toward great summer programming, PBS has unveiled its summer 2013 schedule – replete with mysteries (a new season of The Inspector Lewis Mysteries, the premiere season of the Inspector Morse prequel series, Endeavour and a new take on the Hitchcock classic, The Lady Vanishes), the documentary series Independent Lens (hosted by Stanley Tucci), intriguing looks at history (Secrets of Henry VIII’s Palace, The Stature of Liberty – noted documentarian Ken Burns explores Lady Liberty’s creation and history) and much more.

NBC, whose ratings have yoyoed like crazy this season, has announced its summer schedule. Among the network’s new summer shows are: Camp, starring Rachel Griffith (Six Feet Under, Brothers & Sisters) as a divorced camp director looking to make a fresh start; Save Me, starring Anne Heche (Men in Trees) as a Midwestern wife and mother who undergoes a spiritual reawakening after a near death experience, and Get Out Alive with Bear Grylls – an adventurous high stakes competition series.
American Ninja Warrior and America’s Talent are the major returnees.
New procedural series Motive (pictured) and mystery-solving competition series Whodunnit? join returning favorites like Rookie Blue and Wipeout – and previously announced series The Bachelorette and Mistresses on the ABC Summer 2013 Schedule.

Beginning June 6th, TNT will begin premiering its line-up of five returning hits – Falling Skies, Franklin & Bash, Major Crimes, Perception and Rizzoli & Isles – along with four new series: new PI series King & Maxwell (based on the bestselling books by David Baldacci), docu-drama Cold Justice (cold cases newly examined by two female investigators) and tow unscripted series – The Hero (competition series headlined by Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson), and 72 Hours (competitors searching for $100,000 in a wilderness setting).
