When A&E canceled Longmire the outcry was sufficient for Netflix to pick up the series – where it got even better! Episodes are longer, even more nuanced and the characters even more fully explored over the course of some of the most interesting cases ever.
The fourth season DVD set has no featurettes – not even the token behind the scenes stuff that appeared on the previous three DVD sets. As such, the season stands on its own – and it stands tall!
Season Four of Longmire found Sheriff Walt Longmire dealing with problems presented by the new casino on the Reservation and a missing deputy.
Walt Longmire: The Complete Fourth Season will be avaible on DVD on September 13th. Warner Archive will offer the fourth season set on Blu-ray and digital HD via online retailers – also beginning September 13th.
Despite having great ratings, Longmire was canceled by A&E after its third season, leaving fans with (if nothing else) an emotional cliffhanger and a lot of questions. With a fourth season being picked up by Netflix, millions of fans breathed a sigh of relief.
Now Warner Home video has released the show’s third season DVD and fans can binge their way through the ten episodes again (which is likely how they’ll watch season four if they’re anything like me…). Despite being light on bonus features (a single featurette), the DVD is worth having because the show is one of the great mystery series.
Heist and caper movies rely on manipulating what we see and hear in such a way that we see and hear everything we need to know without realizing that we’ve done so. In spite of some pacing problems and an occasional overabundance of flash (a tricky balance that writer/directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa don’t always get right), Focus pulls off its caper with a certain amount of verve and panache.
A&E’s superb mystery series Longmire (A&E, Mondays, 10/9C) returns this evening with things in a sorry state – Walt Longmire’s best friend, Henry, has been arrested for murder and his deputy, Branch, has been shot.
It’s been almost three months since Sheriff Walt Longmire found himself on the horns of a dilemma in the second season finale of A&E’s Longmire. While there’s always been a sense that it would return for a third season (A&E wouldn’t cancel both The Glades and Longmire would it? Especially if it wasn’t announcing both at the same time…), nothing had been said, officially – until today.
So, you can stop holding your breath, now (you’re very strong – did you know that?). Longmire will return to A&E for a third 10-episode season. We just don’t know when, quite yet. Check out the press release after the jump.
