Welcome to September! Leaves are changing, students head back to school, and a notable lull falls over local movie theaters. But, in the gap between blockbusters and bait for Oscars, the GeekScholars Movie News podcast is once again your guide on which movies to seek out, and which ones you may want to to skip.
With that, the GeekScholars proudly release their September 2013 Rotten Tomatoes and Opening Weekend Box Office estimates for:
Riddick returns on September 6th, but Universal Pictures has just released a new, red band trailer at Comic-Con 2013. Riddick stars Vin Diesel and Katee Sackoff. Looks like things are getting pitch black, too!
The show kicks off with the hosts discussing the large amount of casting currently underway for the film adaptation of the Broadway musical, Into the Woods. Specifically, it sounds like Meryl Streep, Johnny Deep, Chris Pine, Jake Gyllenhaal, Allison Janney, and Anna Kendrick may all be joining the fairy tale adventure. Also, two movies about chefs are squaring off—Chef starring Jon Favreau, Robert Downey, Jr., and Scarlett Johansson, and a rival picture of the same name starring Bradley Cooper and Michelle Williams.
It’s been forever, but Vin Diesel’s final Riddick film is just about ready. If the trailer is any indication, it may bring back the dark, twisted, scary, goofy fun of Pitch Black – as opposed to the bloated, ponderous Chronicles of Riddick. Plus, Karl Urban and Katee Sackhoff!
Check it out after the jump. Riddick is in theaters September 6th.
