Created in 1912, by Edgar Rice Burroughs, John Carter of Mars introduced readers to a world of epic, swashbuckling adventure and interplanetary romance. While not as numerous as the adventures of Burroughs’ other creation, Tarzan, Carter’s adventures fill twelve novels – plenty of material to fuel a movie series – if done right.
Disney has just released a teaser trailer for the movie and it looks to have the kind of scope that made the books so popular. John Carter is director Andrew Stanton’s [Finding Nemo, Wall-E] first live-action film and something of a personal dream project for him. Taylor Kitsch stars as Carter.
