Marvel Studios has begun production Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War at Pinewood Studios in Atlanta, Georgia. The film has an ambitious arc – ‘after another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.’
Captain America: Civil War will feature appearances by the Avengers cast as well as Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), Agent 13/Sharon Carter (Emily Van Camp), Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), General Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross (William Hurt), Brock Rumlow/Crossbones (Frank Grillo) and as yet to be revealed characters played by Daniel Brühl and Martin Freeman.

Three years ago, Joss Whedon’s Marvel’s The Avengers blew everyone away by taking a group off characters who should never have been in the same room together and making us believe that they could save the world together. It was fresh and new and shiny.
Avengers: Age of Ultron is not fresh and new and shiny – but it is a fresh look at why these characters should, in fact, be in the same room even as cracks appear in the team that foreshadow less happy things to come.

With less than two months until its premiere, Marvel has released the third (and final?) trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Besides the extra footage of the Hulkbuster vs. Hulk brawl, we get a bit more of Ultron – and is he taking his programmed task to the ultimate limit!

Once again, Johnny Depp shows his talent for slipping completely into a character. What a shame that this character is almost completely unnoteworthy.
Mortdecai (the movie) wants to be a knowing send up of sixties caper movies, espionage thrillers and, possibly, the superb BBC series Lovejoy. Instead, it’s Johnny Depp plays the worst of Mr. Bean – in a Rolls.
Well, I guess we don’t have to wait for next week’s episode of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. – someone leaked the teaser trailer for Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron online. So, knowing that once it finds its way to the internet, there’s no real way to stop it, Marvel did the smart thing and released the trailer officially.

Loosely based on a popular graphic novel series by Ming-Woo Hyung, Priest is an efficient mélange of genres that owes as much to Sergio Leone’s spaghetti westerns and John Ford’s The Searchers as it does to supernaturally based manga. Sadly, the only reason it doesn’t get an F is a couple of performances.

Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck’s first film, the claustrophobic The Lives of Others, won the Oscar® for Best Foreign Language Film. For only his second full-length feature, he’s chosen to do a big budget Hollywood film. Not just any old Hollywood caper/thriller/romance. No, he has taken on The Tourist, based on the French film, Anthony Zimmer. In adapting it for North American audiences, he has with his co-screenwriters [Christopher McQuarrie and Julian Fellowes created the kind of Hitchcockian romp where an average guy somehow wanders into situation that he is not the least bit qualified to handle – and somehow he must fake his way through or wind up dead.

I’m not sure who Legion will affront more – Christians or horror movie fans. The story, simply put, is that God has lost faith in humanity and ordered his angel, Michael [Paul Bettany] to slay an unborn baby and lead the rest of the angels to destroy humanity. Michael said no and was cast out into the world, where he has cut of his wings to show his love of humanity. Now the angel Gabriel [Kevin Durand] is sent to kill the baby and destroy the world. Only Michael – and a handful of stranded customers at a diner in the middle of nowhere – stands between Gabriel and the apocalypse.
