AI Trailer: Ex Machina!

What does it mean to be human? What traits do we use to define that? These questions are at the heart of Alex Garland’s (Dredd, 28 Days Later) new movie, Ex Machina.

 A computer programmer (Domhnall Gleeson) visits a remote research facility at the request of a tech genius (Oscar Isaac) to test a cutting-edge new artificial intelligence (Alicia Vikander).

National Society of Film Critics: Inside Llewyn Davis is 2013’s Best Picture!

One of the best things about the National Society of Film Critics Awards is that they give you the top three finalists in their lists. As a result, you get an idea of whether a film, script of actor was a runaway winner, or if there were a lot of films/scripts/actors that deserved more than just a passing thought.

Inside Llewyn Davis, the choice for 2013 Best Picture, for example, enjoyed a margin of victory that was twice what Before Midnight had for Best Screenplay – and its win for Best Cinematography was even smaller than that. For a complete list of winners, follow the jump.
