Brian De Palma (Mission: Impossible, Scarface, Carrie) has signed on to helm Lights Out – the first project run through Arclight and Hauce Films’ joint venture, Aurora Alliance Films.

Lights Out Showrunner and Star Talk Making A Series Set In The World Of Boxing!

Lights Out [Tuesdays, 10/9C] is the latest example of how FX lives up to their motto, ‘There is no box.’ It’s a series about a former heavyweight boxing champion, Patrick ‘Lights’ Leary, who has a great life – happy family, beautiful, intelligent wife – until his brother’s wonky investment strategies result in their going broke. Now he must find a way to avoid losing the lifestyle he’s worked so hard to provide.

On Monday, I had the opportunity to take part in a conference call with Lights Out’s showrunner, Warren Leight, and star, Holt McCallany. The conversation covered the ways in which the series attempts to avoid the worst clichés of the genre and emphasis on Lights and his family. It was one of the more thoughtful interview situations I’ve been a part of.
