I’ve always been a big fan of Law and Order: SVU and Criminal Intent, but I never watched Law and Order proper until I went on a set visit last fall. Now I watch it almost every day on TNTHD. I think the way NBC handled the cancellation is criminal. The show only needed one more season to finally break the Gunsmoke record and baring that they should have given the producers enough time to really plan a proper send off for a show that has lasted 20 years. It’s especially galling when you know it’s only being replaced by another Law and Order! Instead the network is barely promoting the fact that tonight’s season finale is now the series finale. I fully expect Lt. Anita Van Buren (S. Epatha Merkerson) to die tonight – probably not from the cancer.
After a slow start, Chuck has finally gotten good in the last few weeks. We’re getting the old likable Chuck back. I still think they made a big mistake by hitting the reset button on Chuck and Sarah’s relationship this year and turning Chuck into a dick for most of the season but the last few episodes has gone a long way towards fixing a lot of what’s wrong. The question is, is it too late to save the show?
Check out these two recaps from this week’s Mercy and Law and Order SVU. I’m addicted to the Law and Order franchise. It’s so by the numbers now that SVU and L & O can probably go on forever. These days though, Ice-T is looking pretty tired and like he doesn’t want to be there. Last night’s installment featured a great guest spot from The Blind Side’s Quinton Aaron.
Law and Order SVU
Last Friday I visited the Set of Law and Order. As I mentioned Friday, they were video taping the entire event, I’m assuming for an DVD Extra. Now we have the video from that event. You can take a gander and see me with my bad hair weave pepper the cast with questions while trying to hide from the Camera. The clips include most of the Q and A including Anthony Anderson and Jeremy Sisko singing Rolling with the Homeys, my brain fart moment where I tried to ask a question and totally forgot, and there’s this hysterical moment where they struck a couple poses in the hallway.
Did you know that Law and Order has been on the air for 20 years now? To celebrate this unique television milestone the Producers of Law and Order held a little Press Event for Online Media today. When I walked into the production offices I was attacked by a vicious dog, of course the owner was like don’t worry he wouldn’t hurt a fly. Yeah, right, this beast was ran up on me growling and everything. After that little bit of excitement the rest of the morning went really well, we did a really fun 50 minute Q and A with Jeremy Sisto, Anthony Anderson, and Alana De La Garza. The three had a really good time and it seemed like there was great chemistry with them. They were fun and down to earth, after the Q and A. I think today’s Q and A will be on the DVD they filmed it. The cast took us on a tour of the set, but there wasn’t much to see, we saw the interrogation room, but couldn’t see the squad room because they were filming. I will be posting the full audio from today’s Q and A sometime in the next few days – it’s very funny and a transcript wouldn’t do it justice. Be sure to check it out Friday nights at 8am. Pictures and Some things that I found out during the Q and A can be found after the break.
We’ve been waiting on pins and needles to find out if Chuck would get renewed or not. Rumor has it that tomorrow (Monday), NBC will announce their fall schedule and Chuck has been picked up. Law & Order, Medium, Parks & Recreation and Southland are also getting renewed. Along with the already announced renewal of Heroes and The Office, 30 Rock, Law & Order: SVU and Friday Night Lights. Gone are Knight Rider and Kings (which I was really digging.) I still have a fear that Chuck S3 will overstay his welcome as I felt the last two episodes of season two were the perfect conclusion to Chuck’s story. This is still an unconfirmed rumor we should know officially tomorrow (Monday) morning.
See, this is exactly why I don’t generally report rumors. NBC has delayed their decision on whether or not to renew Chuck. NBC Execs are weasels, they know what they are going to do, now that they are getting a lot of Buzz over this, they are just jerking Chuck fans around.
