It’s always fun to speak with Justified’s (FX, Tuesdays, 10/9C) creator/showrunner, Graham Yost. He’s as candid as anyone constrained by the need to avoid spoilers can be, and he always seems to be enjoying being interviewed.
With the season finale of Justified coming up this week, Yost took some time to talk about the show and how it’s all about family – and to share a few thoughts on the season to date and the decision to wrap everything up with one last season, next year.
It’s a bleak week for some beloved FX characters: Archer is called on the carpet; Raylan is asked some uncomfortable questions; Philip and Elizabeth Jennings run the ragged edge of disaster; even Chozen can’t keep a gig, and don’t get me started on poor Billy…

Tonight, FX’s Justified (Tuesdays, 10/9) returns with all the panache we’ve come to expect from the Elmore Leonard-based series. This season, we meet the Florida branch of the Crowe family, while Boyd Crowder and new regular Wynn Duffy try to deal with some problems that arise from their business with Detroit. Raylan gets the equivalent of posterized in court and we meet the newest member of the Givens family.
Justified has often been described as Shakespearean, and it’s true that Elmore Leonard has a great deal in common with the Bard: big themes (love, death, loyalty, justice, family, etc.) and a reliance on dialogue to define characters and tell the story.
The new trailer for the show’s fifth season has just been released. Check it out after the jump. Justified returns to FX Tuesday, January 7th at 10/9C.
One of the best shows on television; the best animated series on television and a new animated series about a gay rapper fresh out of prison lead FX’s winter schedule.
Justified returns on Tuesday, January 7th; Archer movies to Mondays, paired with Chozen, on Monday, January 13th. In February, FX’s espionage series The Americans returns, while FXX pairs Ali G: Resurrection with season two of Legit.
