WGN America’s new series, Outsiders, began production today in and around Pittsburgh, PA.

The series, about an Appalachian clan struggling to maintain their world and way of live, was created and written by award-winning playwright Peter Mattei – who will executive produce along with Peter Tolan (Rescue Me) and Paul Giamatti.

The Outsiders cast includes:  David Morse (Treme, Hurt Locker), Joe Anderson (Across The Universe), Phyllis Somerville (The Big C) and Gillian Alexy (The Americans, Damages).

Horns: Joe Hill’s Book Makes a Good, Creepy Movie!


Horns is based on the novel by Joe Hill. It stars Daniel Radcliffe as Ig Perrish, broken-hearted young man who is believed by everyone in town to have raped and murdered his girlfriend, Merrin Williams. Things get weird when he awakens after a night of serious drinking with horns beginning to grow out of his forehead.

Written by Keith Bunin (In Treatment) and directed by Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes), Horns is a deeply disturbed, bleakly funny and frequently scary little film that gives Radcliffe another quality role.

Goin’ Down That Spooky River – Or, What The [BLEEP] Was That?!

The River [ABC, Tuesday, 9/8C] is the latest attempt to produce a scary horror show for network television. Co-created by Oren Peli – of Paranormal Activity fame – it’s a show that follows the family, friends and crew of a famed explorer/television host as they follow a previously unknown offshoot of the Amazon River six months after he disappeared. And, yeah, it’s scary.
