Office Uprising follows the story of an underachiever working at a major weapons manufacturing firm who finds that his co-workers have been “weaponized” by Zolt, a new energy drink designed for the military.
Office Uprising premieres on Crackle on July 19th.
Don’t Breathe is the second film from Fede Alvarez, the man who directed the lean, underrated Evil Dead remake – so you know it’s going to be rife with twists, turns and bloody scares.
What you might not expect is the way it crosses some lines in the final act – one that makes sense for the situation and one that goes way too far. Remove the second crossing of lines and you have a Grade A thriller, but with it, it manages – through muscular direction and solid performances – to avoid dropping into mediocrity.
Remakes tend to be awful – not always, but most of the time – and yet, hope lives eternal. Evil Dead not only had the stamp of approval from the original film’s creators, they also produced it – so there was some cause for hope. Of course, it also followed Joss Whedon’s Cabin in the woods – a complete deconstruction of the genre. In a sense, then, Evil Dead is a reconstruction of the genre and y’know what? For the most part, it works.
