Heist and caper movies rely on manipulating what we see and hear in such a way that we see and hear everything we need to know without realizing that we’ve done so. In spite of some pacing problems and an occasional overabundance of flash (a tricky balance that writer/directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa don’t always get right), Focus pulls off its caper with a certain amount of verve and panache.
Sharon Stone will co-star as Vice-President Natalie Maccabee, America’s first female VPOTUS – and commander of a secret agent who is so secret that even the President doesn’t know of his existence, Agent X. That agent is John Case, played by Jeff Hephner, who handles assignments that involve national security, global crises and problems within the ‘palaces of intrigue of Washington DC.
Gerald McRaney also stars – as Chief Steward of the Vice-President’s mansion and keeper of secrets. It is he who introduces Maccabee to Case, the current Agent X.
TNT has ordered ten episodes of Agent to debut in the second half of 2015. The pilot was written by William Blake Herron and directed by Peter O’Fallon. Further details follow the jump.
