Atomic Blonde Is Bloody, Glorious Fun!

Atomic Blonde may not be as supple, flexible and dynamic is its lead, but still punches above its head in odd and intriguing ways.

To begin with, the action set pieces feel like they could have been part of a John Wick movie. Then there’s the feeling you get watching Charlize Theron – if she’s not having fun in this film, I will eat my shirt. And finally, there’s the two timelines running parallel to each other.

Passionate Trailer: The Beguiled!

The Beguiled is Sophia Coppola’s take on the novel by Thomas Cullinan – a tale of how a wounded Union soldier is taken in by the women of a Southern girls’ school and taboos are broken while dangerous rivalries develop.

The Beguiled stars Nicole Kidman, Elle Fanning and Colin Farrell. It will be in theaters on June 30th.

Blonde Bombshell Trailer: Atomic Blonde!

Charlize Theron stars as the titular Atomic Blonde of Universal’s new action flick – based on the hit comic from Oni Press. She’s MI6’s most lethal operative – the one you call on to fix things when others screw up badly (or if the job is just. that. important.).

Sent alone into Berlin to deliver a priceless dossier out of the destabilized city, she partners with embedded station chief David Percival (James McAvoy) to navigate her way through the deadliest game of spies.

Atomic Blonde is directed by David Leitch (John Wick, Deadpoool 2). It opens on July 28th.

Tantalizing Teaser: Sofia Coppola’s The Beguiled!

The film, adapted from Thomas Cullinan’s novel of the same name, relates events that follow when  a wounded Union soldier is discovered near  The Miss Martha Farnsworth Seminary for Young Ladies and taken in.

DVD Review: Kubo and the Two Strings – Still Brilliant!

Kubo and the Two Strings is a genuinely amazing film. It’s a story of family on both an intimate and mythic level. It’s also absolutely gorgeous to look at.

If not for the Pixar release Zootopia, it would be almost certainly a lock for this year’s best animated film Oscar®. The DVD is now available and it’s a must for any collector of great animation.

Nocturnal Animals Platformed Release Dates Announced!

Susan Morrow receives a package from her ex-husband – a novel (a roman a clef, actually) that is dedicated to her. She reads it as threat/revenge tale.

Nocturnal Animals will receive a platformed release – opening on November 18th in select cites; on November 23rd in several more cities, and going wide on December 9th.
