Multiple nominees abound in Comedy Central’s First Annual Comedy Awards nominations. NBC’s 30 Rock leads the way with seven, but The Office and Modern Family are close behind with four apiece. On the movie side, Easy A and Kick-Ass also garnered four noms.
Comedy Central’s Comedy Awards were created to award the best achievements in comedy in film and television – a category that is so often ignored by The Oscars® and The Emmys®. The First Annual comedy awards will be broadcast across several networks – Comedy Central, Spike TV, TV Land, VH1 and Nick At Nite – on Sunday, April 10, 2011.

It’s been an interesting year in film. From powerhouse performances [James Franco in 127 Hours; Jennifer Lawrence in Winter’s Bone] to terrific ensemble pieces [Scott Pilgrim vs. The World]; from unexpectedly great remakes/re-imaginings [Let Me In, True Grit] to spectacular animated features [Toy Story 3, Megamind] there has been no shortage of entertaining films.
Easy A is a witty, literate [witerate?] movie that belongs to that class of teen comedies that includes Clueless and Mean Girls. Unlike Clueless and Mean Girls, it’s not, strictly-speaking, an adaptation/update of a book. Instead, it’s a funny, smart, slightly more of a smartass/wiseacre of a film that depends on aligning events in the life of its lead character with events from the novel The Scarlett Letter.
