Production has begun on Pop’s The Joey Mac Project – an eight-episode centered on former boy band heartthrob, Joey McIntyre’s efforts to be taken seriously as a legitimate actor – and how that leads him to become host of a cable talk show.
The Joey Mac Project stars McIntyre’s real life wife and kids alongside an ensemble that includes Adam Ray, Jamie Denbo, Katie Wee, Punam Patel and Jordan Black.
Joey MacIntyre is still the youngest of the New Kids on the Block – but now, he’s trying to find ‘his personal stardom following his boy band fame’ in a new scripted comedy series for Pop that’s tentatively entitled The Joey Mac Project.
Not wishing to rest on his boy band laurels, Joey is struggling to be recognized as a serious actor following the band’s latest sold out tour.
Pop has ordered eight episodes of the show – which is executive produced by Donnie Wahlberg, Jenny McCarthy and Joey McIntyre. Follow the jump for more.
Donnie Wahlberg guest-stars in tonight’s season three premiere of In Plain Sight [USA, Wednesdays, 10/9C]: Father Goes West. Wahlberg plays Boston trucker robber Jimmy Porter who runs afoul of his boss when his crew tackles a truck that turns out to have no cargo. Faced with his boss killing his son, he kills the boss and his gunmen and winds up in Albuquerque under the watchful eye of Witsec Marshals Mary Shannon [Mary McCormack] and Marshall Mann [Fred Weller].
On Friday, I had the pleasure of taking part in a teleconference Q&A session with Donnie Wahlberg in support of his guest-starring role in the third season premiere of USA’s hit series, In Plain Sight [Wednesday, 10/9C]. Wahlberg is an intelligent, articulate fellow who has become a dependable character actor with a wide range. It will come as no surprise that he gives an excellent performance as a single father who has turned over a new leaf – but still has a reservoir of rage toward anyone who threatens his family.
