Disney will debut D|XP, a daily summer programming block dedicated to the world of gaming, Saturday, July 15 (9:00 p.m.–3:00 a.m. EDT), on Disney XD.
D|XP will feature original programming produced by Disney Digital Network via its gaming editorial voice Polaris and Digomind Productions including Polaris Primetime, a weekly one-hour playthrough gaming and variety show; Parker Plays hosted by Parker Coppins, star of the popular YouTube gaming channel ParkerGames, and Polaris: Player Select, featuring other popular gaming personalities.
Disney’s new DuckTales adventures will debut as a one-hour movie on Saturday, August 12th (when it will run for 24 consecutive hours beginning at midnight/11C) before premiering as a series on Sunday, September 23rd.
The premise finds Donal Duck taking his nephews – Huey, Dewey and Louie – to visit their reclusive great-uncle Scrooge McDuck. Their visit to McDuck Manor leads them to learn about long-kept family secrets.
Additionally, a DuckTales: All Ducked Out Avatar Creator will debut in July on the Disney XD App and Disney LOL.
While Disney XD makes wait until fall for the return of Star Vs. The Forces of Evil, the network will make that wait just a wee bit more tolerable by premiering Star vs. The Forces of Evil: The Battle for Mewni on Saturday, July 15th (11am/10C, 2/1C), 7/6C).
The two-hour event finds Star returning to her home dimension of Mewni where she discovers that magic is disappearing throughout the kingdom.
Lin-Manuel Miranda (Broadway’s “Hamilton,” Disney’s “Moana”) has joined the voice cast of the new “DuckTales” series debuting this summer on Disney XD.
He will provide the voice of fan-favorite character Gizmoduck, a Duckburg hero whose true identity is Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera, a brilliant young intern working for Scrooge McDuck’s personal mad scientist, Gyro Gearloose.
The trailer for the fourth and final season of Star Wars Rebels was premiered today at Star Wars Celebration in Orlando.
Executive Producer Dave Filoni announced, “‘Star Wars Rebels’ will be the complete journey that it was meant to be from the very beginning. We all felt that the time was right and that the characters were at a point where their story, and their destinies, should finally be revealed. We deeply appreciate all our fans who have journeyed with the Ghost crew, and I promise season four will be like no other.”
Star Wars Rebels’ fourth and final season will premiere this fall on Disney XD..
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the biggest news of the year had to be that Guardians of the Galaxy would be appearing in The Avengers: Infinity Wars.
If you’re a fan of either of the teams (or both), you don’t have to wait until 2018 to see them team up.
When the Guardians of the Galaxy animated series returns to Disney XD on Saturday, March 11 (9/8C), the one-hour premiere will find the Guardians teaming with the Avengers to save Star-Lord’s home planet (which would be the Earth) from ‘an alien mad scientist, The High Evolutionary.’
Leading up to the second season premiere of GotG, Disney XD will also stream a series of six shorts featuring the show’s main characters beginning on February 27th on the Disney XD app, VOD and Disney XD’s YouTube.
There’s a Doctor in the Duck Tales House – and Abed, an SNL cast member and more.
When Duck Tales premieres next summer, David Tennant will be voicing Scrooge McDuck; Dany Pudi, Ben Scwartz and Bobby Moynihan will bring Huey, Dewey and Louie to life, and Kate Micucci will voice Webby Vanderquack.
Toks Olagunde (Mrs. Beakley) and Beck Bennett (Launchpad McQuack) also star. For further details, read on.
