In the new BBC America series The Living and the Dead, pioneering doctor Nathan Appleby brings his wife Charlotte home to his family’s estate with the aim of bringing new, modern ideas to an ancient rural community – but are modern ideas enough to deal with the strange cases they encounter?
The Living and the Dead premieres on Thursday, October 27th (9/8C) – with the entire six-episode series becoming available online for binge-watching the next day (just in time for Halloween). Follow the jump for details.
The BBC series Merlin – which told the story of how Merlin came to be the foremost advisor to the legendary King Arthur – is getting a complete series Blu-Ray release that will feature, in addition to previously available features, new audio commentaries for two season five episodes; footage from Merlin’s 2012 panel at Comic-Con, and The Real Arthur and Merlin – a featurette in which series stars Colin Morgan and Bradley James visit sites from from the legend of Merlin.

So far this Summer has been really sparse when it comes to new programming. There’s a lot of good stuff coming in the next few weeks, but it seems like instead of hitting us with new Summer programs all at once everything is being spread out. A few weeks ago we had Burn Notice, Royal Pains and I’m A Celebrity Get me Out of Here premiere, Sunday night we have the long awaited debut of NBC’s surprisingly "lavish" production of Merlin (Colin Morgan). The production features an interesting cast that includes Buffy’s Anthony Head as the magic fearing King Uther Pendragon.
