For 10 idyllic years, young Mija (An Seo Hyun) has been caretaker and constant companion to Okja.
That all changes when the Mirando Corporation takes Okja and transports her to New York, where image obsessed and self-promoting CEO Lucy Mirando (Tilda Swinton) has big plans for Mija’s dearest friend.
Tony® winner Daveed Diggs has boarded Snowpiercer – TNT’s adaptation of Bong Joon Ho’s futuristic thriller set seven years after the world has become a frozen wasteland, and the remnants of humanity inhabit a gigantic, perpetually moving train that circles the globe.
Diggs will star as Layton Well, a prisoner barely surviving the harsh conditions in the tail end of the train. A quiet thinker who spends his days sniffing the industrial-waste-turned-drug Chronole and tending to his cage full of rats, Layton becomes a reluctant participant in a struggle that could upend life on the train.
Snowpiercer’s pilot will be directed by Doctor Strange’s Scott Derrickson. A premiere date is TBD.
Bong Joon Ho – director of The Host and Snowpiercer – has a new film, Okja, that tells the story of a girl named Mija and her best friend – an enormous animal called Okja – as they try to keep Okja safe from a powerful multi-national company.
The first teaser as a bit of an Island of Doctor Moreau feel to it and is genuinely creepy.
Snowpiercer is first English-language film from Bong Joon-ho, the South Korean responsible for the exquisite monster flick, 2009’s The Host. Check out the creepy concept art above.
Chris Evans stars as the man who bucks the class system on a post-apocalypse train that carries the surviving humans in a world returned to the Ice Age. On that train, the poor live in the train’s tail while the rich live (in decadence, naturally) at the front. Snowpiercer’s cast also includes Tilda Swinton (who’s trying to stop Evans’ character), Jamie Bell, Alison Pill, John Hurt, Octavia Spencer and Ed Harris.
