The Simpsons Celebrates Its 30th Anniversary with Special Events on FXX and FOX!

FXX and FOX have joined forces to celebrate the 30th anniversary of The Simpsons with two special events this month.

On Sunday, December 16, FXX will air a 15-hour marathon featuring episodes specifically curated for this special programming event by executive producer Al Jean.

One week later, FOX will air a special encore of The Simpsons first-ever full-length episode, Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire.  Details (and episode list for the marathon) follow.

D’OH! Going For Thirty? FOX Orders Two More Seasons of The Simpsons!

Homer Simpson and his epically dysfunctional unique family will be with us for seasons 27 and 28. FOX made the announcement this afternoon.

That begs the question: will The Simpsons be the first sitcom to achieve 30 seasons? After all, as Homer puts it, “I’ve outlasted Letterman, Jon Stewart and ‘McDreamy,’ because I have something they don’t: a costly 200-donut-a-day addiction!”

The Simpsons’ Al Jean and Matt Selman Talk Series Longevity, Brick Like Me!

This week’s episode of The Simpsons (Fox, Sundays, 8/7C), Brick Like Me, is the show’s 550th – a number very few shows have reached (Gunsmoke, Lassie, the original Doctor Who being three). The show’s Executive Producers, Al Jean and Matt Selman, took a bit of time from the demands of the show to speak with a group of journalists/bloggers about the show’s remarkable longevity, this week’s Lego-inspired episode and the show’s upcoming twenty-fifth season – including Treehouse of Horror and Simpsorama.

The Simpsons Hits 500 Eps! Executive Producer Al Jean On Making Television History!

The Simpsons [Fox, Sundays, 8/7C] airs its 500th episode Sunday. That’s a lot of detentions and lines for The Bartman. The show has spawned comics, a movie and even a dance [do The Bartman]. It also has another distinction – its showrunner, Al Jean, has been with the show – albeit not always as showrunner – for its entire run!
