24: Live Another Day (Mondays, 9/8C) has been a pleasant surprise for Fox, this summer. Bringing back an even more damaged than ever Jack Bauer has given the network some decent summer ratings and introduced some intriguing new characters as Bauer once more heads off terrorists – this time to ^prevent the deaths of thousands of Londoners.
24 executive producers/writers Evan Katz and Manny Coto spoke with a group of journalists/bloggers on Friday about the series, the challenges presented by the shorter format and how to go out on a shocker, thereby planting the seeds for a possible return for Bauer.
Please note: there is a huge spoiler in this Q&A. If you can’t trust yourself to skip over that part of the Q&A, perhaps you should hold off reading any further until after tomorrow night’s finale.
When we talked with 24: Live Another Day’s (Fox, Mondays, 9/8C) Evan Katz and Manny Coto, they pretty much admitted that Yvonne Strahovski’s CIA Agent Kate Morgan was a take on a young, female Jack Bauer.
On Friday, Strahovski talked with a group of bloggers/journalists about that – among other things – and teased Morgan’s having to team up with Bauer on tonight’s episode. Also, after the jump, a brief video looking at Kate Morgan.
Michelle Fairley is likely best known for playing Lady Catelyn Stark on Game of Thrones, but by the end of the summer, will possible be known as well from playing terrorist leader Margot Al-Harazi on 24: Live Another Day (Fox, Mondays, 9/8C).
Late last week, she take some time to talk with a group of bloggers/journalists about playing a terrorist, how she got the role and how 24: LAD is very much like a Shakespearean tragedy. We’ve included a clip from this week’s episode showcasing Fairley with this interview. Check it out following the jump.
After four years, 24 has come back as the twelve-hour event series, 24: Live Another Day (Fox, Mondays, 9/8C). Although hero/antihero Jack Bauer always saves the day (literally) on any incarnation of 24, he couldn’t do it without the mad skills of computer wizard Chloe O’Brien – who has even bailed him out with unexpected mastery of big guns (which actions spawned the nickname Commando Chloe).
Recently, Mary Lynn Rajskub spoke with a group of journalists/bloggers about her process, the possibility of Commando Chloe putting in an appearance and how Chloe came to be the goth internet whistleblower she is today.
On Monday, Fox’s event series 24: Live Another Day (Mondays, 8/7C for the premiere, then 9/8C) premieres, bringing Jack Bauer back after an absence of four years. Set in London, Bauer sets out to prevent the first assassination of a standing President of the United States on foreign soil. We see a very different Bauer – and Chloe O’Brian – than we’ve ever seen before and the stakes are higher than ever.
Last week, I had the pleasure of taking part in a conference call Q&A with the Evan Katz and Manny Coto, the writers and Executive Producers of Fox’s event series 24: Live Another Day – after screening the first two episodes. They talked about the changes of circumstance for Jack and Chloe; the genesis of new characters, like Agent Kate Morgan – and the reasons they went with the threat they chose.
