All eyes are on Hollywood when E! goes LIVE from the 2011 Academy Awards with over seven hours of Red Carpet coverage from the industry’s most prestigious night of the year. In a year full of remarkable movies and outstanding performances, this year’s Oscars will make history when ten nominated films go for the gold, honoring the movies that millions of moviegoers flocked to see in the theaters to make 2010 one of the highest grossing years in film. Now on the eve of the Oscars, entertainment enthusiasts from around the globe prepare to tune in to E! for more than seven hours of LIVE red carpet coverage surrounding the awards. Hosts Ryan Seacrest and Giuliana Rancic, along with E!’s team of award show correspondents and 18 dedicated cameras, including one in the Goodyear Blimp, will be positioned all along the red carpet to give the world an extensive insider’s look at this year’s Oscars. The Oscars have been announced and I can without a doubt tell you, I don’t care. Sure, I’m doing the obligatory blog post about it. I may try and do a commentary on this, but this year’s Oscar campaign was so lackluster and nothing on this list is either outrageously good or bad, just middle of the road safe choices. I will say are they kidding me? Frost/Nixon as Best Picture? That movie was barely watchable, I turned the screener off 40 minutes into it and would have walked out of the theater if I saw it there. The problem is, yes, I know Frank Langella wasn’t trying to “impersonate” Nixon, but come-on, couldn’t they have at least tried to hire someone who resembled him, just a LITTLE bit? The casting was HORRIBLE, and I don’t get why people are praising his performance.
The same goes for Anne Hathaway, I love her, but she’s annoying as hell in Rachel Getting Married – and again, I realize that’s the point of her character and the movie. It felt like being trapped at your best friend’s house and being forced to sit through their crappy, grainy, poorly shot wedding video. Ok, I was wrong, I can work up some snark about this year’s nominations. So I’ll post that this weekend. For now here’s the list, comment if you wan.

Oscar Race: Heath Ledger, Named Best Supporting Actor!
This year’s Oscar campaign has been pretty lackluster, but there were a few jems to be discovered. Today, the Washington, DC Film Critics Association has named Slumdog Millionaire the year’s best film. I’m a member of WAFCA and this year’s selections are all about 75% of my choices, so I won’t complain like I usually do. Heath Ledger took home the Best Supporting Actor nod and Wall E best animated film, while Danny Boyle took Best Director. My favorite foreign film of the year the indie Vampire flick Let The Right One In took Foreign Language film. Here’s the complete list of winners.
