Maya Cinemas brings Luxury Theater to North Las Vegas

A $75 million cinema center opened its doors Thursday in North Las Vegas, paving the way for future development in the NLV downtown area.

Maya Cinemas are located on North Las Vegas Boulevard, between Lake Mead Boulevard and Carey Avenue, and includes 14 screens, an arcade, cantina, and event space. It also boasts some of the largest displays in Nevada, with one larger than IMAX and other theaters featuring chairs that move along with a movie.

“It’s a dream come true for me,” says Maya Cinemas CEO Moctezuma Esparza.

He also said he specifically chose the site, which was once a dirt lot, because he wanted to benefit the underserved community in North Las Vegas, as many residents had to drive at least 20 minutes to go the movies.

But the cinema is all part of a larger goal to spur development in downtown North Las Vegas.

Councilman Isaac Barron says he’s glad to see a family-friendly space where the community can gather.

“Economic development is the best tool for combatting crime and poverty,” Barron said.

In addition to showing everything mainstream theaters have, they also plan to showcase documentaries, international, and foreign language films.

Viewed by millions around the world, the Golden Globes is the premier ceremony to honor the very best in television and film. Future recipients will be chosen based on their body of work and the lasting impact that their television career achievements have had on both the industry and audiences.

“For more than 50 years, comedy trailblazer Carol Burnett has been breaking barriers while making us laugh,” said HFPA President Meher Tatna. “She was the first woman to host a variety sketch show, The Carol Burnett Show. She was also the first woman to win both the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor and Kennedy Center Honors. And now we add another first to her running list: the first recipient and namesake of the new Golden Globe top honor for achievement in television, the Carol Burnett Award. Universal Studios Hollywood Resurrects Cinematic Icons in All-New “Halloween Horror Nights” Maze Inspired by the Original Universal Monsters

2018 Universal Horror Nights

It’s alive! Inspired by Universal’s original cinematic Monsters and the studio that invented the horror film, Universal Studios Hollywood unearths an all-new “Halloween Horror Nights” maze based on the original “Universal Monsters”…with a terrifying contemporary twist on these classic horror icons.

The new maze will also feature an original score produced and composed by celebrated GRAMMY® Award-winning musician, SLASH, long hailed as one of the 10 best electric guitar-players of all time.

At its core, “Halloween Horror Nights” is an extension of the horror film legacy originated by Universal Pictures and introduced to audiences in the 1920s…with a staple of classic Universal Monsters that dominated the silver screen, including Dracula, The Phantom of the Opera, Frankenstein’s Monster and The Wolf Man.

“Halloween Horror Nights” continues to pay homage to these creatures of the night in this new maze by reawakening more than a dozen of these iconic classic Monsters. The essence of the maze will underscore each of their unique attributes and reimagine them into terrifying modern day characters. At a glance, resurrected monsters will include The Wolf Man, The Invisible Man, The Phantom of the Opera, Dracula, Dracula’s Bride, Frankenstein’s Monster, The Bride of Frankenstein and The Mummy, to name a few.
