Buskin’ in the Subway – the new indie album from legendary Moby Grape co-founder Don Stevenson – will be available in the U.S., on amazon.com, as of January 18th. (Check out our review here.) It was released in Germany – 0n the Sireena label – earlier this month.

The album is Stevenson’s first in almost seven years and former Grape members Jerry Miller and Peter Lewis are present on several tracks.

Buskin’ in the Subway – Don Stevenson Great as Grape!

Don Stevenson was co-founder of one of the most influential San Francisco bands, Moby Grape (Robert Plant, Bruce Springsteen and Randy Bachman are among those they influenced).

His first solo albums in years, Buskin’ in the Subway, finds him writing and performing twelve fabulous new songs – bookended by two Grape classics, I’m Leaving You and 8:05.

Don Stevenson Is Not – Despite His Album’s Title – The King of the Fools!

Moby Grape was, perhaps, the best band to come out of the San Francisco scene in the 1960s. Unfortunately, their label screwed things up for them by releasing, simultaneously, five singles from their first album. To this day, the release of an album by a Grape is an event to be celebrated. Don Stevenson is the last member of the group to release a solo album and it is, indeed, a cause for celebration.
