Television: The CW Is Cheering About The Cheerleaders of Hellcats!

CW-Hellcats-Poster1

One of the predictions I made in my advance review of The CW Network’s new Wednesday night series, Hellcats, is that it had the potential to be a hit with the younger female audiences. Judging by the cheering coming out of the CW Network offices over the ratings success, I would say my prediction was right on the money.  Below is some excerpts from the CW Network press release on the ratings success of Hellcats which stars Ashley Tisdale, Gail O’Grady and Aly Michalka.

September 9, 2010 (Burbank, CA) –  THE CW’s HELLCATS Marks First Premiere to Ever Match or Build on TOP MODEL Lead-In  and Scores Largest Non-Top Model Audience in the 9PM Wednesday night Time Period in 3 Years and Best in 2 Years Among Women 18-34. The series premiere of HELLCATS, titled A World Full of Strangers, accomplished something no other UPN or CW show has ever done, matched or built on its TOP MODEL lead-in.  According to preliminary live plus same day Nielsen ratings for Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010, the younger-skewing Hellcats ranked first in the hour among total teens and female teens, and ranked second in the hour with females 12-34. Hellcats also built at the half hour by 15% in adults 18-34, 5% in women 18-34, 8% in adults 18-49, 6% in women 18-49, 14% in persons 12-34 and 9% in females 12-34.

Next week’s all new episode of Hellcats is titled ‘I Say a Little Prayer’ and finds Marti (Aly Michalka) horrified when she discovers her mother Wanda(Gail O’Grady) in the audience at qualifiers and banishes her from the stadium.  Hellcats airs on Wednesday nights at 9PM EST right after America’s Next Top Model.
