It started as rumor on laineygossip.com two days ago. Then a day ago E Online picked up the story. Today the publicists at Warner Brothers and The CW have confirmed it as a fact in statements released to the press containing details about the episode and comments from series Executive Producer/Creator, Eric Kripe.
The main detail in the press release sent out by the Warner Brothers and CW publicists confirms Paris Hilton’s guest starring stint on The CW’s hit Thursday night series Supernatural. This guest appearance will reunite the actress with her House of Wax co-star Jared Padalecki who plays younger brother Sam Winchester, one of the series hot lead characters. The episode which is titled American Idol will air on Thursday, October 8th at 9PM EST.
While a quick search of her IMDB page shows that this will mark Paris Hilton’s first time working with Jensen Ackles who plays another of the sexy lead characters, older brother Dean Winchester she has shown professional support for his work. Hilton was seen attending the premiere screening of Jensen Ackles’ big screen horror movie My Bloody Valentine 3D back in January of this year.
The press release also stated that Supernatural is looking forward to having Paris Hilton come to guest star on their series and executive producer/creator Eric Kripke had this to say about the turn of events.
“Paris Hilton is playing a demonic creature that takes the form of….Paris Hilton,” Kripke tells us in describing her role on the show. “It’ll be a fun, irreverent episode and we here at Supernatural are thrilled that Paris agreed to do it.”
On her verified Twitter account, Paris Hilton had this to say about her upcoming appearance on Supernatural:
“I love the show Supernatural. It rocks! So excited!”
While this should prove to be a very interesting episode of Supernatural reaction to the announcement has been mixed among the fans and viewers. I have a feeling that American Idol is going to become one of the top highly anticipated episodes of Supernatural season 5 be it with anticipations of excitement or anticipations of dread among the fans and viewers. I liked Paris Hilton’s work in House of Wax so I’m leaning towards the “anticipation of excitement” myself. Love to hear what the EM readers have to say.
Supernatural season 5 premieres on The CW Network Thursday September 10th at 9PM EST time right after the series premiere of The Vampire Diaries at 8PM EST.
I'd say that was stunt casting of the worst kind [it's kind of a cunning stunt, to borrow from the title of an old Caravan album…]. I guess this is what comes of having Lucifer let loose in the world.
Eric Kripke just lost a lot of credibility – unless she's playing a zombie [though I'm not sure she even has that much range…].
Hmmmmm. On her twitter, Paris Hilton says "I love the show Supernatural! It rocks! So excited!" On her twitter, Danneel Harris (Jensen's girlfriend) says "I think she should play the role of the chewed-up piece of gum Sam or Dean steps on while randomly walking and talking." Isn't that interesting?? Aside from that, I say Eric has lost his little bitty mind.
While it's certainly interesting to see the girlfriend of one of the stars of Supernatual join the ranks of fangirls who openly speak out about the casting decisions regarding female characters on the show, I want to thank you for mentioning Danneel Harris because it gives me the perfect opportunity to say that EM has an exclusive interview coming up with the stunning redhead on her return to the hit CW Series One Tree Hill for the upcoming season 7.
