Out of everything WarnerMedia could have called their new service, HBOMax seems pretty lame to me. I would have preferred something like WBMax, WBDemand, I don’t know, but HBOMax? We already have HBOGo, HBO Now, and DC Universe. According to someone I spoke with at Warner Brothers, DC Universe is staying put. But HBOMax is going to launch next Spring with over 10,000 Hours of content including Friends, Fresh Prince of Bel Air, a Robust Slate of New Originals, and Programming from Warner Bros., New Line, DC Entertainment, CNN, TNT, TBS, truTV, The CW, Turner Classic Movies, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Crunchyroll, Rooster Teeth, Looney Tunes and More at a rumored price of $16 or $17.
As much as I hate all these streaming services, we’re getting a lot of awesome product to watch! Warner Media has announced one of their first shows for their new upcoming service and its, wait for it – Gremlins! How will this even work as a series? Part of me is disappointed that it’s going to be an animated prequel series that’s going to take place before the first film. I’ve made my hatred of prequels plain. But I am curious to see what the art style will be and who will be involved. Full press release after the jump.
