HOLLYWOOD INSIDER: Warehouse 13 Creator Jack Kenny Delves Into Season 2!

Jack Kenny

Warehouse 13 came out of nowhere last summer to become Syfy’s most successful series ever. Built around the concept of a warehouse for storing artifacts with unusual, even supernatural, abilities – and the Secret Service agents who are assigned to bag, tag and store those items, the show’s mix of buddy show, weird procedural and eccentric character studies was an instant hit.

This week, Warehouse 13’s creator/showrunner Jack Kenny took some time from shooting season two to talk about the show’s conception and what lies in store for the upcoming season. Warehouse 13 returns to Syfy on June 6 [9/8C].

TELEVISION REVIEW: Missing Artifacts! A Traitor Within! A Killer Cliffhanger! Warehouse 13’s First Season Closes on an Explosive Note!

warehouse_13-15

Over the course of its first season, Warehouse 13 [Tuesday, Syfy, 9/8C] has become Syfy’s most watched series ever and it’s easy to see why. The oil and water personalities of Agents Pete Lattimer [Eddie McClintock] and Myka Bering [Joanne Kelly] and Warehouse 13 Supervisor/Curator/Cataloguer Artie Nielsen [Saul Rubinek] and kid computer wizard Claudia Donovan [Allison Scagliotti] produces a high ratio of clever banter per episode and allow for a sufficiently diverse group of personality types that pretty every viewer can identify with [or wish they were] one of the four. Add intriguing magical and/pr scientific artifacts that do weird and crazy stuff – and which must, therefore, be removed from easy access and/or nullified, and you have a premise that can go almost anywhere.

To that already intriguing mix, add a carefully built backstory that includes aura-reading Leena [Genelle Williams], the mysterious and dangerous Mrs. Frederic [CCH Pounder], and the ruthless former Warehouse agent, James MacPherson [Roger Rees] and you have the potential for an explosive first-season finale.

TELEVISION: Warehouse 13 – Not Just a Collection of Antiques & Curios!

Remember the final shot of Raiders of the Lost Ark, when the crated up Ark of the Covenant is placed on a pile of boxes and the camera pulls back and keeps pulling back to reveal a warehouse the size of Rhode Island? Well, Warehouse 13 [Syfy, Tuesdays,9/8C] could very possibly be that warehouse.

Pete & Myka 2

When two Secret Service Agents – Pete Lattimer [Eddie McClintock] and Myka Bering [Joanne Kelly] prevent a supernaturally influenced assassin from killing the President of the United States, they find themselves assigned to a very secret installation by the mysterious, and very determined Mrs. Frederic [CCH Pounder] – Warehouse 13 .

TELEVISION: SCI FI Casts Allison Scagliotti in Warehouse 13

The SCI FI Channel’s newest sci-fi/fantasy series, Warehouse 13, has added Allison Scagliotti [Drake & Josh] to its cast which already includes regulars Eddie McClintock, Joanne Kelly, Saul Rubinek and CCH Pounder.

01

In the series – which focuses on two FBI agents who are assigned to a massive storage facility for “strange artifacts, mysterious relics and supernatural souvenirs” – Scagliotti will play Claudia Donovan, a young, hip, brilliant techno-whiz who cracks the facility’s security in search of Rubinek’s character, Artie. Her natural aptitude for science and technology enable her to figure out and manipulate many of the facility’s pieces in order to help the team.

Artie is the caretaker of the Warehouse, while Pete [McClintock] and Myka [Kelly] are the FBI agents who are charged with finding and securing new objects to cache there.

Warehouse 13 premieres with a two-hour episode on July 7th, 2009, at 9/8 Central.
