Anime sci-fi/fantasy series Accel World and psychological action thriller K are getting unusually jam-packed home video packages from VIZ Media. Both will be released in Special Limited Edition Blu-Ray/DVD combo packs that include premium art booklets and a host of special bonus features.
In Accel World, a bullied teen finds power and strength in a virtual reality video game, while in K, a case of mistaken identity embroils an easygoing teenager in a deadly war between seven infamous and bloodthirsty clans. VIZ Media has announced the launch of Naruto Shippunden – in a dubbed, uncut edition, from the beginning – on Adult Swim’s Toonami programming block in 2014.
The continuing saga of young ninja Naruto Uzumaki is one of the most popular manga titles in the VIZ Media library and the anime was a huge hit in Japan. for more details, check out the press release following the jump.
VIZ Media has just launched its extensive digital manga catalog on Apple’s iBooks store. That means over 1600 volumes of hit series like Naruto, Bleach, Bakuman and One Piece – not to mention recent bestsellers like Demon Love spell and Nisekoi – are now available for iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch and Mac.
It’s not often that a superhero is created by a super-villain, but that’s the case with Japanese superhero series Zetman. The series revolves around two boys – Kouga, born into a wealthy family and in line to inherit his family’s power and fortune, and Jin, poor but living a happy life with his grandfather until tragedy strikes. Both boys seek the real meaning of justice and what it means to be a hero.
Zetman is a gritty, viceral, action-filled 13-episode series that explores what it means to be human. VIZ Media will release Zetman: The complete Series on Blu-Ray and DVD in North America on November 5th. For further details, check out the press release after the jump.
With its Jack Kirby-inspired visuals and interstellar adventure, The Cartoon Network’s Ben 10 – all iterations of him – would seem to be a natural for comics and graphic novels. Today VIZ Media’s Perfect Square imprint has released the first of a series of Ben 10 Omniverse graphic novels written by Cory Levine and drawn by Alan Brown. Ben 10 Omniverse, Vol. 1: Ghost Ship finds Ben Tennyson and his new partner rook investigating a distress call that puts them in the crosshairs of a new foe called Khyber – whose one goal in life is hunting down Ben 10!

The Japanese coastal town of Kurouzu-cho is cursed, not by by demons or evil people, but by a pattern – the spiral, one of nature’s most common and beautiful patterns. Uzumaki, the three-volume horror manga by Junji Ito, about a town’s gradual descent into madness, has been collected in a deluxe hardcover edition that is now available in stores.

As someone whose favorite Hayao Miyazaki movie is, in fact, My Neighbor Totoro, I am pleased to note that in celebration the 25th Anniversary of the release of Miyazaki’s anime masterpiece, VIZ Media is announcing the release of My Neighbor Totoro: The Novel – with illustrations by Miyazaki – as well as a brand new edition of the My Neighbor Totoro Picture Book. Both titles will be in stores on October 1st.

If you’ve ever wondered how corporate superheroes Tiger & Bunny came to be, VIZ Media has the answer – and, on October 1st, you will, too. That’s when Tiger & Bunny The Movie: The Beginning will be released on DVD and Blu-ray – followed on October 8th by Tiger & Bunny The Movie: The Beginning Side A and Side B, a two-volume manga adaptation of the movie.

Have you missed the latest episode of your favorite Neon Alley anime? Neon Alley and VIZ Media have just announced a new Catch Up feature for the web-based version of the 24/7 anime channel. The feature gives VOD viewers the option, once they have logged in, to Watch Now and go to the currently running programming, or Catch Up – to choose series and episodes that they might have missed.
Since each episode is accessible for a minimum of one week following its debut, the Catch Up option also allows the VOD viewer to find out how much longer each episode will be available. For more details, check out the press release after the jump.
