Nausicca of the Valley of the Wind – one of the greatest manga of all time – is getting a deluxe box set edition. VIZ Media has announced that Hayao Miyazaki’s acclaimed seven-volume masterpiece will be presented in a two-volume hardcover edition in a special illustrated slipcover and will include a full color, double-sided poster. Each of the two volumes will also include eight full color, full page inserts.

The Japanese film Happy Family Plan looks at the effects of the recession on family – and how some things resonate with everyone – and add a real, quirky Japanese game show for heightened drama. VIZ Media’s new 24-hour anime channel, Neon Alley – which premieres this fall on PS3 and Playstation Network and will feature programming from an array from anime producers and distributors – will feature the highly successful pirate/adventure series One Piece. Luffy refuses to let anyone or anything stand in the way of his quest to become king of all pirates – by claiming the greatest treasure on Earth – the Legendary One Piece!
Viz Media has announced plans to launch a 24-hour anime channel in October. Neon Alley will be available in the US and Canada and will be available by subscription to play on TV via your game console. The plan is to run all genres of anime on a channel subsidized through limited advertising to keep the subscription rate a constant $6.99.

Bleach, one of the most popular manga and anime´ series in the world is going Hollywood. VIZ Media today announced that Warner Bros. Pictures has acquired the live-action feature film rights to the series.
Peter Segal (Get Smart, The Longest Yard) of Callahan Filmworks is producing with an eye toward directing. The film’s creative team also includes screenwriter Dan Mazeau, who recently penned Warner Bros.’ upcoming sequel to Clash of the Titans, Wrath of the Titans.
