Due to popular demand and Chris Carter being able to find sufficient holes in his stars’ schedules to get the band back together, The X-Files returns on Sunday (FOX, 10/9C) – with a second ep premiering in the show’s regular timeslot on Monday (8/7C)..
Despite the almost fourteen years between the event series premiere and the last regular episode, the chemistry between David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson is as good as ever – and if the first three episodes are any indication, the show fits in, quality-wise, around the fourth and fifth seasons. It’s that good.

It’s time to peek behind the curtain on FOX’s event series The X-Files. Check out the new teaser after the break. The X-Files returns with its two-night premiere on Sunday, January 24th and Monday, January 25th.
I watched the first episode of the upcoming X-Files 6 ep event and didn’t like it. As a huge fan of the series, I’m confidant, or at least hopeful that once the entire thing is complete it’ll come together nicely. It’s just nice to have Mulder and Scully back, my Sundays have felt strangely empty the last 10 yrs. The X-Files returns in a special 2 night event Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016, 10:00-11:00 PM ET.
Agents Mulder and Scully will be joined by Lucifer (following The X-Files on January 25) – based on the character from DC comics’ Sandmangraphic novels and solo series, and Second Chance (January 13) – about a discgraced sheriff who is resurrected as a younger version of himself.
Other new series include Seth MacFarlane’s animated comedy Bordertown and live-action comedy Cooper Barrett’s Guide to Surviving Life.
Sleepy Hollow shifts to Fridays in February, while Gotham: Rise of the Villains returns to its regular slot in the same month. Rosewood and Empire return, in their familiar timeslots, in March. The final season of American Idol returns with a two-night premiere in January. For details, follow the jump.
