TBS Takes Over Cougar Town!

Cougar Town began as a series about an older woman dating younger men – hence the title – but then turned into this peculiar and specific comedy about finding family not just in blood relatives, but also in the friends made over the years.

After three seasons on ABC, Cougar Town’s ratings had dipped to the point where the show couldn’t be sustained on a major network, but a white knight has arrived to save the series. Cougar Town’s fourth season will be on TBS – the Turner network that is based on comedy.

Conan Smokes Leno [And Everyone Else]!

TBS trounces network late night talk shows with its premiere of Conan! The gangly redhead with his fresh-from-my-live-tour beard drew 4.2 million viewers for his TBS premiere which was, yes, very funny. Even better, of that 4.2 million, 3.3 million were adults 18-49. By comparison, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno drew a total of 3.5 million viewers with a mere 950,000 in the 18-49 demographic. Meanwhile, The Late Show with David Letterman reached a total of 3.4 million, with 1.3 million in the 18-49 demo.

Conan also benefited George Lopez Tonight, which beat both The Daily Show and The Colbert Report in total viewers and all demos

It will be interesting to see if Conan can maintain this audience – but even if there’s as much as a 50% drop in ratings [as happened in his second week on The Tonight Show], he will still be giving TBS a triple-digits ratings increase in the timeslot. If he holds his audience, it will be the biggest shake-up in late night ratings, ever – and one of the biggest in basic cable vs. networks.

Conan O’Brien’s NEW explosive promo for TBS

here’s something I’ve been waiting to share with all of you Conan O’Brien fans out there. Since his unpleasant departure from NBC and now joining the “Very Funny” network TBS, Conan has finally shot a promo for his new show coming in November. Conan gets into a car filled with explosives and un-poped popcorn and drives it off a cliff. This promo was just released hours ago. Personally I love the promo and enjoy watching it over and over. I stongly believe his new show on TBS will be hit. The only bad thing is that his long time drummer Max Weinberg will not be on the show but I’m still anxious to see how the show will turn out.

TELEVISION: TBS Outfoxes Fox; Snags Conan!

Conan O’Brien has a new home and it’s on TBS – not Fox Television.

According to a press release from TBS,  O’Brien will premiere his 11 p.m. talk show show in November. The move will shift George Lopez’s show to midnight. Today’s announcement comes as O’Brien begins his national comedy tour in Eugene, Oregon.

In announcing the deal, O’Brien said, in a typically tongue-in-cheek tone, ”In three months, I’ve gone from network television to Twitter to performing live in theaters, and now I’m headed to basic cable. My plan is working perfectly.”
