Shin Godzilla – which opens in over 400 theaters for an eight-day run beginning Tuesday, October 11th – is the 29th in the franchise’s 32 year history.
Unlike all but the first few films in the franchise, this Godzilla is not campy – Godzilla is not Japan’s champion. Instead, it’s a destructive force of nature that, like the original, echoes the dangers of the atom. This time, though, it’s not atom bombs, but the nuclear disaster at Fukushima – and its subsequent fallout – that are being obliquely referenced.

On July 14th, FUNimation will stage the world premiere of the live-action movie Attack on Titan at Los Angeles’ famed Egyptian Theater.
Based on the bestselling manga, Attack on Titan ‘tells the story of a world where most of humanity has been destroyed by giants and where the last of mankind fights to survive behind three concentric walls – walls that were once impenetrable to the giants.’
In the run up to the world premiere, Attack on Titan” director Shinji Higuchi will be making a special appearance at San Diego Comic-Con for an autograph session at the FUNimation booth. The company will also host the film in Los Angeles – and has distribution rights for the Americas.
