Manga Creator Aya Kanno To Guest at Toronto Comic Arts Festival 2015!

Aya Kanno – author of hit manga Requiem of the Rose King and Otomen – will be a featured guest at The Toronto Comic Arts Festival 2015.

Kanno will participate in a variety of programs at the Festival and was chosen as a guest for her ability to ‘smartly interrogate the medium (Shoujo manga) and its approach to gender, sexuality, and storytelling.’

The Toronto Comic Arts Festival 2015, Saturday May 9, 9am-5pm, and Sunday May 10, 11am-5pm, @ Toronto Reference Library, 789 Yonge Street. Attendance is FREE to the public. For further details, follow the jump.

VIZ Media Launches Shakespeare-Inspired Requiem Of The Rose King!

Aya Kanno’s Requiem of the Rose King follows Richard, the third son of York, who believes that, from birth, he is damned to eternal darkness. Based on/inspired by an early draft of William Shakespeare’s Richard III, Kanno’s Richard stands between worlds, between classes, between good and evil.

The first volume of Requiem of the Rose King takes place during the War of the Roses and finds Richard determined that his family should rule – but he has a secret that undo everything he desires.

VIZ Media will launch volume one of Requiem of the Rose King on March 10th. Follow the jump for further details.
