FOX has made a few tweaks to its 2016-17 schedule: Pitch (following Major League Baseball’s first female pitcher) is moving up to Thursdays this Fall; longtime hit Bones will begin its final season on Thursday in Winter 2017, and Prison Break will air Tuesdays in Spring 2017.
Much of FOX’s 2016-17 schedule comes from adaptations or reboots(Lethal Weapon, The Exorcist, The Rocky Horror Show, Prison Break) – though, to be fair, both Lethal Weapon and Prison Break look better than I was expecting but there’s not really enough of Rocky Horror to tell how it’ll turn out. The Exorcist? Not sure how that will stretch out over a full season…
Star looks like it has potential but I’m more drawn to the flashy procedural APB (next generation tech used by a civilian-run police precinct) and Son of Zorn (an animated He-Man-type journeys to Earth to reconcile with his ex and their son) is just goofy enough to work.
Pitch takes standard sports tropes and makes the lead a woman – which is cool – but the teaser isn’t exactly overwhelming. The Mick has one thing going for it – Kaitlin Olson, who killed on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Making History plays time travel for laughs and comes off as being a riff on Hot Tub Time Machine (with an equally silly time machine).
Anyroad, there are teasers for eight new FOX shows on the other side of the break. Check them out.
