Disney XD Premieres Two-Hour Star Vs. The Forces of Evil Event!

While Disney XD makes wait until fall for the return of Star Vs. The Forces of Evil, the network will make that wait just a wee bit more tolerable by premiering Star vs. The Forces of Evil: The Battle for Mewni on Saturday, July 15th (11am/10C, 2/1C), 7/6C).

The two-hour event finds Star returning to her home dimension of Mewni where she discovers that magic is disappearing throughout the kingdom.

It’s been fourteen years since Nia Vardalos’ My Big Fat Greek Wedding came out of nowhere to do $254 million dollars because of its exploration of how large Greek families react when one of them falls in love with a non-Greek.

The sequel is equally as filled with that unique mix of culture and shtick, but it’s still enough to wring more than a few laughs (and tears) from today’s jaded audiences (there was even applause at the screening I attended).
