After careful consideration – and with some trepidation – I’ve finally put together my final list of my favorite movies from 2014. It was the first time in a long while that I saw more than 200 movies and a lot of them were incredibly good (a lot were incredibly bad, or boring, but I’ve already dealt with those).

Dark Apocalyptic Comedy LFO Comes To DVD!

LFO – a high-quality, low-fi science fiction black comedy (Eclipse gave it an A following its appearance at the Calgary International Film Festival) – works just as well on a small screen as it did in the theater because for all that it successfully achieves its ambitions, it is an intimate study on one man’s descent into madness.

Dark Sci-Fi Film LFO Comes To DVD!

Swedish sci-fi film LFO (We gave it an A-) is coming to DVD. The low-budget, low-fi film is a dark (very dark) comedy about a man who discovers a way to use low-frequency sound to hypnotize others and uses it to fuel his personal fantasies – until those fantasies reach megalomaniac proportions.

Check out a new trailer for the Dark Sky DVD/VOD/Digital HD release, available on October 28th.

CIFF Review: LFO: Sounds Like Dark Fun!

LFO - Robert's Basement - 10-05-14

A lonely, sad sack scientist wannabe discovers a combination of very low frequencies that appear to make people extremely suggestible. At first, he uses his discovery to act out his wildest fantasies, but then, as his past catches up with him, he goes farther than even he could have imagined.

LFO is a micro-budgeted, low-fi sci-fi comedy from Sweden’s Antonio Tublen that looks at human nature in a supremely twisted way. It was one of my favorite films at this year’s Calgary International Film Festival.
