Hulu will be running a very interesting TV spot for Castle Rock during Super Bowl LII – there’s mention of a call from Shawshank; a voice crying out ‘Something is going to happen;’ and another saying, ‘It’s happening!’
Hulu has picked up a second, four part season of National Treasure – entitled Kiri. The new season will unfold around the abduction of a young black girl, named Kiri, who is soon-to-be-adopted by her white foster family, and the trail of lies, blame, guilt and notoriety that follow.
National Treasure: Kiri will premiere on April 4th.
Hulu and George Clooney are bringing Joseph Heller’s classic novel Catch-22 to television. The story of an Air Force pilot, Yossarion, who is stuck in a unique position when ordered to fly more and more missions – the idea being a pilot who’s willingly flying so many missions must be insane, but if he asks to be removed from duty, he has shown evidence of sanity, which makes him ineligible for being removed from duty.
Hulu is teaming with George Clooney, Paramount Television and Anonymous Content of the six-episode event series.
In a related deal, Hulu has acquired streaming rights to all fifteen seasons of ER.
Hulu has announced the renewal of Marvel’s Runaway (possibly the best superhero soap ever) and Future Man (a janitor by day/gamer by night who is recruited by mysterious visitors to travel through time in order to prevent the extinction of humanity).
Both shows received 13-episode orders.
Marvel’s Runaways concludes its first season tomorrow.
