In two short seasons, Justified [FX, Tuesdays] has become one of the best shows on television – garnering an Emmy for Margo Martindale for her season two antagonist Mags Bennett. Like The Sopranos and Deadwood before it, Justified mixes folksy and sophisticated in ways that are practically Shakespearean.

FX has released four clips in support of the show’s third season – which premieres on Tuesday, January 17th. Check out the remaining three following the jump.

Archer & Burt DSC_0080

The Bandit is taking on the head of ISIS – on a date, that is! Burt Reynolds is appearing on FX’s hit animated spy spoof, Archer – as himself – in the January episode entitled, ‘The Man From Jupiter’ [Reynolds’ home in Florida], in which he dates Malory Archer – much to her son’s great displeasure.

The press release follows the jump.

IT'S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA: Kaitlin Olson. CR: Joey L. / FX

It’s not always easy to enjoy a series in which every character is reprehensible, but It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia [FX, Thursdays, 10/9C] frequently succeeds in making its audience do just that. One of the reasons it can do that is the presence of Kaitlin Olson as Deandra ‘Sweet Dee’ Reynolds.

Earlier this week I had the opportunity to take part in a teleconference call with the delightful Ms. Olson, who talked about the show and how she manages to keep Dee fresh.

It will probably come as no surprise to fans of Nip/Tuck and/or Glee that American Horror Story [FX, Wednesdays, 10/9C] is an intense hour that is more than a bit overstuffed.

American Horror Story [FX, Wednesdays, 10/9C] is one of the most anticipated new shows of the season. From Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk [the madmen/geniuses who gave us Nip/Tuck and Glee], the series is about a family who have moved into a beautiful old house to try to repair the damage done after the husband has an affair – and the beautiful old house is haunted!

Dylan McDermott [The Practice], Connie Britton [Friday Night Lights], Jessica Lange [Grey Gardens] and Denis O’Hare [True Blood] star.

Check out the first five minutes of the premiere following the jump.

Elijah Wood and Jason Gann have a cable hit on their hands with Wilfred [FX, Thursdays, 10/9C], the heartwarming series about a lonely, unsettled ex-lawyer and the dog he sees as a hulking Australian man in a cheap dog suit – or rather, the ribald, rude series about an underachieving ex-lawyer who is manipulated by the selfish, arrogant titular hound [or maybe a bit of both…] – which concludes its critically acclaimed first season this week..

I recently had the opportunity to take part in a conference call Q&A with Wood and Gann, who spoke at length about the show’s successful first season and the first season finale.
