The summer camp from Hell awaits the unsuspecting when Freeform’s Dead of Summer premieres on Tuesday, June 28th.
Set in the late 1980s, school is out for the summer, and a sun-drenched season of firsts beckons the counselors at Camp Stillwater, a seemingly idyllic Midwestern summer camp, including first loves, first kisses—and first kills. Stillwater’s dark, ancient mythology awakens, and what was supposed to be a summer of fun soon turns into one of unforgettable scares and evil at every turn. Freeform’s new series Dead of Summer has added three more members to its cast: Zelda Williams (Teen Wolf), Alberto Frezza (Charlie’s Angels) and Eli Goree (The 100).
Set in ’80s, Dead of Summer, the series follows the camp counselors at Camp Clearwater, ‘a seemingly idyllic Midwestern summer camp’ – emphasis on ‘seeming.’
Williams will play ‘a counselor who is a mysterious loner with no interest in bonding with the rest of the group;’ Frezza will play ‘Deputy Garrett Sykes, a young deputy who has ties to Camp Clearwater,’ and Goree will play Joel, ‘an aspiring filmmaker who is returning to Camp Clearwater as a counselor.’

ABC Family has announced the straight to series order for horror series Dead of Summer – the latest addition of original scripted series that will premiere in 2016 under the network’s rebranding as Freeform.
Dead of Summer is, basically, the tale of what happens when summer camp goes really, really wrong. The series was created by Once Upon a Time’s Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis, who will executive produce along with Ian Goldberg. Further details await on the other side of the jump.
